Ama writes dark comedies about characters wrestling with the intersecting identities of race, motherhood, and inconvenient love. Her work finds the light in the dark comedy of life.
Many of the themes, settings, and characters in Ama’s scripts are inspired by her community work. She’s been an educator in the prison and public school system and a nonprofit leader.
