ama  .  anane

LA-BASED writer of scripts, poetry, standup, essays , speeches,
to-do lists…

Ama learned how to read so she could write. She’s been tinkering with plays, poems and essays since she was six years. Ama wrote, directed and produced her first one act play at 16 and went on to study poetry and playwriting at Emerson College, where she earned the Emerson College Poetry Prize and Thesis Prize.

Ama’s writing (and life) is propelled by character, intersecting identities, race, motherhood, and inconvenient love. She’s been an educator in the prison and public school system, a nonprofit leader, and is currently the founder of Good Influence Consulting, which helps organizations advance democracy, education, and racial justice.

Ama’s life and work is rooted in her love of hearing and sharing stories.
